Terlingua Book Fair

We have had several inquiries about the Annual Book Fair at the school in Terlingua. This is the information that we have received. While most of us will not be in the Terlingua area this year, we can still help out by visiting the link. The Book Fair is November 2-November 15. Thank you all.

Pendery’s Charity Chili Cookoff Bonus Funds Still Available!

Each year, Bonus Money is provided to local non-profits to encourage extra fundraising during the Cookoff. For every dollar raised by the non-profit, we will donate an additional dollar until the Bonus Fund is exhausted. For the first two years of the event, the charities raised just over the required amount, so they each received the donations they solicited as well as the matching bonus funds provided by event sponsors.

The bonus funds have increased each year, and for the first time this year, non-profits did not raise money equal to their allotted bonus fund and in essence “left money on the table.”

At this time, there are $11,382 dollars left unclaimed in the Bonus Pool!

But the Haggerty family still wants to give the money away to charity, so it’s been decided to offer the remaining funds in the Bonus Pool to all of the Pendery’s Cookoff Charities on a pro-rated basis based on the amount of money they can raise in the next two weeks. The match could be 1:1, .50:1, 2:1, depending on how much money is raised in total by the participating charities.

To be eligible for matching funds, donations must be made by midnight on April 24th. (Two weeks after the Cookoff.) Donations can be made on the Pendery’s event website: http://cookoff.penderys.com
(Look under the cookoff section and then click on tickets - scroll down to the donate section and make your donation to the CASI Scholarship Fund on line.)

Checks may also be written “For the Benefit of CASI” ,
“Pendery’s FBO Charity CASI” and mailed to the following:
Attn: Pendery’s Charity Cookoff
1221 Manufacturing St
Dallas TX 75207

In summary, if you donate on line at Pendery’s or mail a check, your donation will count more; because Pendery’s will match a portion of the total donated to each charity.

If you wish to donate to one of the other Pendery’s charities, just follow the instructions above and write in that charity’s name.

There is an interesting piece of CASI history on ebay.  These boots were custom made for the Gaviscon Company by Tony Lama, when Gaviscon was one of the sponsors at TICC.  The boots were made for their management team and sales reps to wear to Terlingua.
