"Making a positive difference in someone's life with every pot of chili cooked."
About CASI Events:
The CASI organization was the original host for the Terlingua Championship in 1967. For 50+ years, on the first Saturday of November, CASI has held the ultimate and largest celebration of Chili at the CASI Terlingua International Chili Championship (TICC). This granddaddy of all chili cook-offs is held at Rancho CASI de los Chisos in Terlingua, Texas, as an annual fundraiser for the CASI scholarship fund and local Terlingua community charities. Cooks and spectators from all over the world visit this event. The four day celebration begins each year on Wednesday before the big weekend and culminates on Saturday with the Terlingua International Chili Championship©. It's a Texas tradition of epic proportion - complete with annual proclamations declaring "Chili Appreciation Society International Day" in Texas!
During the year, leading up to the grand championship, over 14,000 chili entries are judged in nearly 400 CASI sanctioned events from coast to coast in the United States and a few international events. These CASI sanctioned events raise over a million dollars annually for local charities and provide a chance for cooks to qualify to cook at the CASI International Chili Championship.
CASI is proud of their national scholarship program that assist high school graduates in their additional studies in universities or trade school.
