History of the Krazy Flats Saloon & Pavilion

Krazy Flats is both a place and a state of mind. Pictures can capture the place and its environment, but they cannot capture the state of mind.                                     Come Join the FUN and get KRAZY !!!!
Click For Pictorial History - Krazy Flats
From 2002 through 2004 the Krazy Flats facility consisted of a small shed with a hole cut as a window to sell ice and cold beer in the Flats.  In the later years, a few Krazy Flats t-shirts were sold through the window.

In 2005, one hundred Friends of Krazy Flats contributed $100 each and CASI built the Krazy Flats Saloon, right in the middle of the Terlingua International Chili Championship's spectator camping area, as a second concession area and gathering place to stay cool and enjoy your favorite beverage.  Ken Rodd became the first Mayor of Krazy Flats.

In 2012, with the financial donation from Bruce Foods, the Si Brown/Original Louisiana Hot Sauce Pavilion was added as home to many activities in the Krazy Flats area of Rancho CASI de los Chisos.

The Original Friends of Krazy Flats

In the February 2005 CASI Board of Directors meeting, Ken Rodd presented a proposal to build a Krazy Flats saloon and concession area.  The Board agreed with Ken's Krazy Flats facility plan, if he could get the funding support to underwrite the construction of the facility.  Ken estimated that it would take $10,000 to complete the facility, so he proceed to band together a group called the Friends of Krazy Flats.  To be a member of this group required a $100 donation toward the Krazy Flats Building Fund.  Within just 52 days, the Friends of Krazy Flats had 100 members and the building fund had $10,000 to proceed with the Krazy Flats facilities.
Below is the list of the original members of the Friends of Krazy Flats that shared the vision and donations to make and grow Krazy Flats at Rancho CASI de los Chisos.
